The River Dell Westwood Boys Swim Team started out strong, winning their first meet of the season. This brings their record to 1-0. The River Dell Westwood Swim Team had their first meet on December 4th, against Fair Lawn High School at the Garfield Boys & Girls club. The boys’ team scored 96-74, taking the win against Fair Lawn. Senior captain Jeffrey Jeong said, “The meet on Wednesday was a refreshing start to come back into the season. After an intense and close win against Fair Lawn in the state tournament in the 2022-2023 season.”
About 23 swimmers participated for the boys’ team. The team earned 1509 power points from the meet. Power points are essential to qualify for playoffs. This is a slight decrease from last year when the team earned 1833 power points against Fair Lawn, at the last meet of the season.
Senior captain Jeffrey Jeong believes, “the double win over Fair Lawn is only the beginning of [the team’s] progress, as we still have the rest of the season to improve. With incoming athletes, the numbers are bound to exceed those of last year.”
