River Dell Regional High School will proudly celebrate the accomplishments of two outstanding members of its community with their induction into the River Dell Athletic Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees—Mr. Flanagan and Mrs. Erin Kirkby—each represent excellence, dedication, and a lifelong commitment to River Dell and its student-athletes.
Mr. Flanagan, who currently serves as one of River Dell’s Vice Principals, has devoted nearly 30 years to the district as both an educator and a coach. While his administrative role places him at the center of student management and responsibility, it is his exceptional legacy as Head Baseball Coach that earned him this honor. Over the course of his coaching career, Mr. Flanagan helped shape not only successful teams, but also generations of student-athletes who learned the value of discipline, teamwork, and pride in representing River Dell.
Mrs. Erin Kirkby (formerly Erin Curatola), a proud River Dell graduate, will be honored for her remarkable athletic achievements as a multi-sport athlete. During her high school career, she excelled in Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball, later continuing her Softball career at the collegiate level. Today, Mrs. Kirkby serves as River Dell’s Director of Student Personnel Services, a position established three years ago. In this role, she oversees student guidance services, college application processes, transcripts, and counseling, while remaining highly visible and accessible to both students and parents. Her induction reflects not only her athletic excellence, but also her ongoing dedication to supporting River Dell students.
Reflecting on the significance of the evening, Superintendent Dr. Albro shared:
“The Athletic Hall of Fame represents everything we value at River Dell—commitment, perseverance, and pride in being part of something larger than yourself. These inductees have not only achieved excellence in athletics, but they have also given back to our school community in ways that continue to shape and inspire our students.”
The mission of the River Dell Athletic Hall of Fame is to honor students, staff, and administrators who have achieved at a high level or who have influenced River Dell’s athletic programs in meaningful ways. Beyond wins and losses, the Hall of Fame celebrates the experiences, character, and sense of “Hawk Pride” that come from competing in the Black and Gold. By recognizing these individuals, River Dell hopes to inspire future generations of students to participate, contribute, and carry forward the proud traditions of its athletic programs.
