River Dell High School has its very own influencer in Amy Yamauchi, a junior at River Dell High School, who is well known for her social media platform on Tik Tok. Yamauchi’s Tik Tok account (ur.yammy) has 78.3K followers with 12.1 million likes.
Like most teenagers, Yamauchi decided to post on Tik Tok on a whim. “I began posting on my Tik Tok the end of 2022-2023, and have continued to do so.”
Amy spoke about her first video that went viral, and which grew her account rapidly. “My first viral video was in April of 2023, and it had around 400K likes. It was about some guy I used to have a crush on, but I took it down.” The relatable video received thousands of comments, shares, views, and likes, which is standard for Amy’s videos.
Yamauchi mentioned the difficulty in trying to build a platform while hearing negative feedback from her peers. “In the beginning, the feedback was hurtful and people weren’t supportive. But I grew past that.” Yamauchi’s average Tik Tok video now receives around 2,000 to 4,000 views, and the majority of comments are positive. “My friends now are supportive of my Tik Tok account,” Yamauchi added.
While Yamauchi has almost 80,000 followers, she does not get reimbursed for her content. “I used to get paid through Tik Tok and promotions, but since I’m not eighteen, I can’t get paid anymore. But I post every day on my account regardless.”
For the past two years, Amy Yamauchi has been posting consistently and growing her platform day by day. Several of her videos have gone viral, such as videos about her friends, relatable content, trendy videos, or videos about her boyfriend.
Amy Yamauchi communicates with supporters in her comments and spreads encouraging words to them as well.
Yamauchi is well known throughout the River Dell Community for her platform, and has always used her platform as a safe and relatable space for other teenagers throughout the world.
