Wrestling is the fastest growing sport for both boys and girls, with the largest percentage increase of athletes in recent years. River Dell High school provides a great and enjoyable experience for new wrestlers.
For new wrestlers, practicing is key to grow and succeed. If you don’t go to practices you will end up not knowing anything when it comes time for a actual match. Two new wrestlers, Dean Monaco and Nolan Downey, both said and agreed that the coaches and practices/lifts were enjoyable and persuaded them to keep practicing.
Dean Monaco said that “There are lots of team building exercises and they are supportive of everyone.” Practices are very important because most of the freshman wrestlers have never wrestled before and need to learn. If some freshman wrestlers perform well enough they could move up to JV or Varsity.
Not only are there practices there are lifts and the lifts focus on different exercises. Like one day it could be legs and another could be upper body. Most of the practices include running. From now till the end of wrestling there are practices everyday after school. Even over winter break there will be practices just not on Christmas. These practices could be hard for people who just started wrestling because of the time of practices. To fit everything in your entire schedule at home will have to change to fit in practice and homework/studying.
