Brains were buzzing, and competition was fierce as River Dell students put their science knowledge to the test on Wednesday night. From anatomy to astronomy, the cafeteria transformed into a battlefield of wits during the Science National Honor Society’s thrilling Trivia Night.
On Wednesday the 19th, River Dell students gathered in the cafeteria from 7–8 p.m. for an exciting and competitive Science Trivia Night. The event, organized by the Science National Honor Society (SNHS), served as a fundraiser to support the club’s initiatives and senior scholarships. With a strong turnout and an energetic atmosphere, the night successfully combined fun, learning, and community support.
Science Trivia Night was led by SNHS advisor Mrs. DeRosa-Hill along with officers Scarlett Blackman, Abigail Kim, Grace Kim, Luke Loschiavo, Nathan Silverstein, and Hannah Yun. Their hard work and organization ensured that the event ran smoothly and that participants had an engaging experience.
The trivia questions covered a wide range of scientific topics, from anatomy to astronomy. Students tested their knowledge in various areas of science, answering challenging yet entertaining questions that encouraged both teamwork and quick thinking. The diversity of topics allowed participants with different scientific interests to contribute to their teams.
Six teams of three competed. Juniors Rishabh Nigam, Kyle Morales, and Max Muscarella came from behind and defeated the senior team of Luke Loschiavo, Milo Tarascio, and Nate Silverstein; including a teacher team that featured both Mr. Valentino and McNamara. The winning team split 45 bucks between them.
The fundraiser aspect of the event added an extra level of excitement. Half of the money raised will go toward senior scholarships for SNHS members, helping support graduating students in their future academic pursuits. The remaining half was awarded to the trivia winners, providing an incentive for participation and friendly competition.
Science Trivia Night not only raised funds for an important cause but also brought students together for an evening of intellectual challenge and fun. Overall, the event was a successful and memorable experience for everyone involved.
