River Dell’s Gaming Club is preparing to compete against other schools in Splatoon III, and they’re looking for one more player to join them.
Whether you’re an experienced player or someone new to Splatoon 3, this is a great opportunity for students to work together, strategize, and overall, just have fun.
One of the activities that RD Gaming Club does every year is competitive e-sports against other schools. “When we competed last year, our team placed number 27 out of 118 schools,” explained Judson Syracuse, the president of the gaming club.
“But we currently have 3 members who want to participate this year, which means that we are short by one person.”
Currently, the team consists of Judson Syracuse, Justin Spano, and Sebastian Gallo.
“Last year, Jud, Shane, Ian, and I competed against rival Splatoon teams online through PlayVs in our team we dubbed ‘Neo Ouroboros,'” Gallo recalled.
“The most fun I had with the team was the practices and skirmishes we did. We goofed off a bit, improved our fight game, and overall bonded as a team.”
But what is Splatoon, you may ask?
Splatoon is a popular third-person shooter where players control one of a squid-like species either Octlings or Inklings. The main objective of the game is to cover the most ground in their team’s ink. It is a fast-paced gameplay and requires a lot of teamwork and strategy.
Unlike Splatoon 1 and 2, Splatoon 3 is more complex; the game introduces new mechanics and better customization. There are also fun multiplayer modes and single-player stories.
“The controls are hard to learn at first, but overall, it’s a fun game,” says Avery Sobong, a member of the Gaming Club. “I would rate it an 8.5/10.”
The deadline to enroll for the competition is February 6, 2026. More information on the tournament can be found here on this website: https://app.playvs.com/explore/leagues/eastern-region-splatoon/overview?queryMetaseasonId=b1863ad7-42d7-40c4-80c9-4728f89cbe08
If anyone is interested, they can email Judson Syracuse.
“I’d love to do it again this year, but we are just missing one player. If anyone wants to join in on the action, you’re welcome to do so… if you have what it takes,” said Gallo enthusiastically.
