RDHS is full of a variety of different teachers with different teaching styles, methods, and work ethics. Mr. McQuade, who is a new chemistry teacher, has caught the eye of the RDHS community.
“He’s a very lively person, and I think a lot of people respect him,” said sophomore Jasper Trent Crane, a student of Mr. McQuade.
Mr. McQuade’s teaching style is nothing that RDHS hasn’t seen before. He teaches with such energy, but he is also very laid back and chill. He wants engagement and understanding from his students. But also want students to think critically and participate actively.
Students of all kinds basically have the same description of his personality, “He’s like energetic I guess?” Chirs Ra said, questioning himself.
Mr. McQuade was hired over the summer by Mr. Pepe, Mrs. Dunn, and many other important staff at RDHS. McQuade taught at Westwood and Old Tappan Northern Valley prior to RDHS.
During his interview process for RDHS, he was given a tour of the school so he could feel comfortable.
He uses his past experiences to expand his work ethic and ideas for his next classes. Such as going outside to measure the football field or doing cool experiments to find the volume and density of a penny. McQuade has done it all. And he does it for the best of his class so they can learn the best they can. He is a very hands-on type of teacher.
With only being here for less than four months, he has gained the respect of multiple staff and students alike. Mrs. Kantanas, who acts as McQuade’s in-class support teacher explained that, “I think Mr. McQuade is a committed and inspiring educator”
“[He] makes a meaningful difference in students’ lives through his teaching approach and dedication,” added Kantanas.
But the students have also gained respect from him. Mr. McQuade was on the 9/11 field trip earlier in September, and while on the field trip he saw some things that not many other teachers would’ve. “The thing I noted was, when everyone got off the bus that day said thank you to the bus driver. Which I think speaks very highly to the students that are here,” McQuade said with awe.
RDHS has had many students and teachers over the years, and McQuade will be a fine addition to the RDH staff. With his personality, respect, and work ethic. He will be a memorable teacher for many students.
