In River Dell many students turn to their phones for a source of entertainment, but what exactly are they doing?
Mobil games have taken over the halls, classrooms, lunchrooms, and bathrooms of RD. Games like Block Blast, Brawl Stars, and Game Pigeon are just some games that have grasped the attention of the students throughout the school.
BLOCK BLAST is a mobile game that can be used without Wi-Fi or internet, the goal of the block puzzle game is easy yet fun: match and clear as many colored blocks as possible on the board.
Block Blast is the most commonly played game in River Dell right now because students can play it wherever and whenever.
When asked Olivia Bagnato said, “I use Block Blast in class after I finish my work, and it’s good because the game doesn’t require Wi-Fi.”
“I use Block Blast about 3 times a day, and on average I use it for 2.5 hours a day, my high score right now is 48,219,” Bagnato continued.
“Block blast entertains me throughout the day, and it is super convenient due to the fact that I don’t need WIFI to play so I can play in the school building, even in the hallways that have no reception.” Alexa Daibes said.
Brawl Stars differs from Block blast because it is most commonly played by the boys in River Dell as Block blast is played by everyone.
BRAWL STARS is a third-person MOBA hero shooter video game, that many of the boys in River Dell play. This game allows people to play with or against their friends in different game modes and collect characters and skins.
Lincoln Walker says that one time he spent 24 hours on Brawl Stars in one week and describes the game as “the best game on earth”.
Brawl Stars has many different game modes that players can choose from, when asked Walker sates “I play Brawl Ball against my friends, each team has to score 2 goals and the game gets very competitive.”
GAME PIGEON is an extension for iMessage, which works seamlessly within the texting app on iPhones and iPads. Kids can play various two-player games with their friends, all while chatting back and forth through iMessage. Game Pigeon consists of 25 different mini games.
This game allows students to compete against one another in different game modes, some students’ favorites are Cup Pong, Darts, Basketball, and 8 ball.
Bagnato said, “I enjoy playing Cup pong against my friends, I use the game the most during lunch and in even sometimes in my classes which is not good.” She continued, “I enjoy competing against my friends and I like winning”
Sophomore Sophia Tortorella said, “I play 8-ball when I finish my work in my classes, and I play against my friends from other schools.”
