Forget studying for midterms, students at River Dell are mastering a different type of test: surviving the Ticketmaster queues.
Last month, Bruno Mars announced his The Romantic Tour following his announcement of his new album The Romantic. Fans all around the world registered for presale, but I think it’s safe to say none of them were as determined as two juniors from River Dell.
On Wednesday, January 14th, at 12:00 pm, Selin Eker and Sofia Volostatova joined the queue during their AP Lang class, prepared for battle, and after submitting a writing assignment, the two went to war. Volosatova recalled being “optimistic but stressed,” especially once it was finally their turn to buy tickets.
Selin and Sofia fought relentlessly, clicking on different sections, trying to buy the tickets before they were unavailable. During lunch they finally won the war, and are proud to say that on August 22nd, they are attending The Romantic Tour at MetLife Stadium. According to Selin, the nerve wracking process was “so worth it!”
Bruno Mars isn’t the only one who announced a captivating tour taking place this summer. After over 170 shows spanning over two years and a record-breaking 30-show residency at Madison Square Garden, Harry Styles announced the Together Together Tour, last Thursday, January 22. The tour starts May 16th in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and in August, he’ll begin a 30-show residency at Madison Square Garden, breaking his own record. His presale, which started this past Monday, January 26, and garnered 11 million people in the queue. Needless to say, the entire thirty-day run sold out before the tickets ever went on sale to the public.
Keep your eyes peeled, because I student you may think is working hard in Sub Hall might just be in the Ticketmaster queue praying that they’ll get lucky enough to see their favorite artist in concert.
