The River Dell golf team enters the 2026 season with a strong mix of experienced leadership and promising young talent. Leading the team are seniors Jayden Na and Daniel O’Neill, who bring both skill and composure to the course. Their experience will be key as the team navigates a season filled with high expectations and new challenges. Supporting them is a talented group of juniors, including Preston Tsui, Michael DiNallo, and Sean Byrnes, all of whom have already proven themselves as important contributors. Adding to the excitement is freshman Brendan Gullo, a newcomer who could make an immediate impact.
Beyond the top players, River Dell boasts impressive depth. The juniors are working hard to break into the top six, creating healthy competition within the team. This depth could be a major advantage as the season progresses, giving the team flexibility and consistency in matches.
This year also marks a significant transition for the program, as the team adjusts to its first new varsity coach, Coach Caruso.
“Our main goal right now is to adjust to me being the first new coach in 37 years for the varsity team and the first new JV coach in the last 20 years,” said Coach Caruso.
Despite these changes, expectations remain high. River Dell aims to defend its Big North Patriot Division title, a title the team has held at least a share of for the past six years. Looking beyond the division, the team is also setting its sights on competing for county and state championships.
“Building chemistry and adapting to new coaching styles are key early-season goals,” said Coach Caruso.
Preparation for the season began with two weeks at the driving range while winter conditions lingered. As the team moves onto the course, all eyes will be on their biggest rival, Ramsey, in what promises to be another exciting season.
