On Thursday, January 23rd Mrs. Lenihan’s hospitality and tourism classes will be taking a trip to New York to tour the Lotte New York Palace and enjoy lunch at Schnipper’s.
Mrs. Lenihan was happy to share with her students that she has organized a field trip for her hospitality and tourism students. “I was finally able to get in, and we are super excited to go,” expressed Mrs. Lenihan.
The business teacher had been talking about the field trip for a couple months, so when she was able to tell her students they were going, students were very excited and were looking forward to the trip.
According to the Lotte New York Palace, the hotel is, “A peerless address for business, a glamorous setting for society weddings, and a treasured retreat for family holidays, Lotte New York Palace has long reigned as New York City’s most iconic and instantly recognizable hotel.”
The Lotte New York Palace is a luxury hotel owned and operated by Lotte Hotels & Resorts, a South Korean company.
Usually, the hospitality classes visit the Marriott Marquis, but this year Mrs. Lenihan wanted to experience something new. “It was a little bit of a process. They’re very busy.”
She explained that one of her student’s sisters works at the Lotte, so she was able to help in the process of getting into the hotel.
When looking for a hotel to visit, Mrs. Lenihan said that the Lotte Palace stood out the most to her. Its popularity and good reputation caught her eye. “It’s a very high-end hotel, there is a lot of celebrities, it’s a very high-end hotel. I think the energy from them is what made us all excited.”
So far, around 50 students are expected to be coming on the field trip, including both hospitality and tourism class periods. Students going on the trip must pay $70 to go on the trip, including lunch and bus fees.
Mrs. Lenihan plans on getting to the Lotte Hotel at 9:30am.
Multiple students have shared their excitement for this field trip. Students have pointed out their fame and noticed some of their favorite TV shows were filmed at the hotel.
The Lotte hotel is very famous for many movies and TV shows, Gossip Girl, Will & Grace, 30 Rock, Law & Order, and 27 Dresses. They have also hosted multiple celebrities and important people such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and President Obama.
Talar Kasaryan, a sophomore at River Del,l shared, “I’m so excited to be going on this trip, I honestly look forward to exploring the hotel with my friends. This trip will be a great start to 2025.”
Mrs. Lenihan is very hopeful that everything will go smoothly and is looking forward to seeing what the Lotte New York Palace has in store for River Dell.
