It only took Ms. Connolly three weeks to find a new forever home for Clancy, her latest foster cat
Ms. Connolly volunteered herself to take in and foster Clancy after being alerted on a neighborhood watch system.
Since Ms. Connolly already worked with a feral colony she was able to have him neutered and vaccinated before taking him as a foster at her home.
Ms. Connolly was inspired to name the new foster Clancy after guidance department secretary Mrs. Neary’s own cat. “I heard the name and I liked it,” explained Ms. Connolly. “The name fit.”
Clancy is an orange and white tabby cat who is estimated to be a one year old. “He is very friendly and he loves to eat and play and lay in your lap. He is very loving and he’s basically perfect!”
The main reason as to why Ms. Connolly couldn’t keep Clancy herself was that she already has her own nine year old cat, Shadow. Shadow and Ms. Connolly have been together since a year ago when she officially adopted him after fostering him.
Ms. Connolly noticed that Shadow had been stressed by Clancy’s presence so she felt it best for Clancy to find a permanent home.
This is why Ms. Connolly sent out an email to her colleagues about finding Clancy a home and Mr. Wong forwarded it to his daughter who shared it with her high school friend and Class of 2013 RD alum, Jodi Iannantuano.
Jodi reached out to Ms. Connolly and since she was one of the first people to reach out Ms. Connolly followed up.
Ms. Connolly said that she remembered Jodi right away and was able to recall her as , “a very nice girl and a good kid” from her time in high school. Jodi’s memorable impact on Ms. Connolly was one of the factors that contributed to her being the main candidate to adopt Clancy.
Another factor is that fact that Jodi works for a care facility in Alzheimer care and since it’s a very hard and heavy job, it would be good for Jodi to be able to come home to something to cheer up her days, and this could be Clancy.
There is also the fact that Clancy seems to get along very well with everyone around him so him and Jodi will hit it off right away for sure.
After Jodi and Ms. Connolly met for an interview over zoom, Jodi picked up Clancy on Saturday the seventh of December and took him to his new forever home.
